All of the Writers Build's official policies and guidelines can be summarized as the Bill of Writes that define WritersBuild's character:

All submissions are 100% Public Domain. Public domain comprises the body of knowledge and innovation (especially creative works such as writing, art, music, and inventions) in relation to which no person or other legal entity can establish or maintain proprietary interests within a particular legal jurisdiction. This body of information and creativity is considered to be part of a common cultural and intellectual heritage, which, in general, anyone may use or exploit, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes. A creative work is said to be in the public domain if there are no laws which restrict its use by the public at large. For instance, a work may be in the public domain if no laws establish proprietary rights over the work, or if the work or its subject matter are specifically excluded from existing laws.

No claims will be made to ownership of any submission. Since working on an article does not entitle you to "own" the article, it is still important to respect the work of your fellow contributors. When making large scale removals of content, particularly content contributed by one editor, it is important to consider whether a desirable result could be obtained by working with the editor, instead of against him or her—regardless of whether or not he or she "owns" the article.

Any portion of any submission is available for unrestricted usage. All text is available under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) and may be distributed or linked accordingly. Recognize that articles can be changed by anyone and no individual controls any specific article; therefore, any writing you contribute can be mercilessly edited and redistributed at will by the community. Do not submit copyright infringements or works licensed in a way incompatible with the GFDL.

Writers Build has a code of conduct: Respect your fellow Builders even when you may not agree with them. Be civil. Avoid making personal attacks or sweeping generalizations. Find consensus, avoid edit wars, and remember that there are 3 articles on the English WritersBuild to work on and discuss. Act in good faith, and assume good faith on the part of others. Be open and welcoming.

No portion of any submission will ever be censored. WritersBuild may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive. Anyone reading WritersBuild can edit an article and the changes are displayed instantaneously without any checking to ensure appropriateness, so WritersBuild cannot guarantee that stories or images are tasteful to all users or adhere to specific social or religious norms or requirements. While obviously inappropriate content (such as an irrelevant link to a pornographic site) is usually removed immediately, some stories may include objectionable text or images.

Every submission will be considered a work of fiction. Fiction is the telling of stories which are not entirely based upon facts. More specifically, fiction is an imaginative form of narrative, one of the four basic rhetorical modes. Although the word fiction is derived from the Latin fictio, "to form, create", works of fiction need not be entirely imaginary and may include real people, places, and events.

Site management will support all US Legal and Law Enforcement requests for information. While we have the utmost respect for privacy, we also have respect for the legal system. If information is requested about information or edits that are made on WritersBuild, we will gratefully comply with law enforcement and any related requests. Please don't be alarmed or allow yourself to be discouraged by this Write - this only pertains to contributions that would warrant legal action such as threats, defamatory material or personal attacks. As fiction writers, you will not be censored for content.

There is not and there is no implied level of privacy for any submitter. If you contribute to the WritersBuild stories, you are publishing every word you post publicly. If you write something, assume that it will be retained forever. This includes stories, user pages and talk pages.

Site management does not support or denounce any portion of any submission. A bias is a prejudice in a general or specific sense, usually in the sense for having a preference to one particular point of view or ideological perspective. However, one is generally only said to be biased if one's powers of judgment are influenced by the biases one holds, to the extent that one's views could not be taken as being neutral or objective, but instead as subjective. A bias could, for example, lead one to accept or deny the truth of a claim, not on the basis of the strength of the arguments in support of the claim themselves, but because of the extent of the claim's correspondence with one's own preconceived ideas. This is called confirmation bias.

Every submitter will be considered a family member of this truly unique writing community.
